Why was my MLS service turned off?

 

There are multiple reasons that MLS services could be turned off for an individual user:

  • If a user has transferred from one office to another but SmartMLS has only received the termination form from their old office (we have not yet received the transfer paperwork from the new office). Once we get paperwork from the new Broker, we will transfer their membership and reactivate their MLS access with the new office.

  • If a user has not paid their MLS dues within 30 days of the original due date, their services are suspended until payment is received.  (see Section 3.2.b of the Rules & Regulations)

    At that point, the Broker of the office becomes responsible for any unpaid users within the office. If those bills are still unpaid after another 30 days (60 days past the original due date), the entire office is suspended.  (see Section 3.2 of the Rules & Regulations).

    Section 3.2 Failure to Pay. (a) Failure of a Participant to pay required Fees within thirty (30) days of the invoice date shall result in all services to the Participant and its Subscribers being suspended until the fees are paid in full. (b) Failure of a Subscriber to pay Subscriber Fees within thirty (30) days of the invoice date shall result in suspension of all services to the applicable Subscriber until the fees are paid in full. Any such unpaid Subscriber fee shall automatically become a responsibility of the Subscriber's Participant. If said fees remain unpaid for an additional thirty (30) day period, the services to said Participant and its Subscribers shall be suspended. The Service shall give at least ten (10) days’ notice prior to suspending a Firm’s service. Late payment of Subscriber Fees may result in a late fee. Reinstatement after suspension of either a Participant or Subscriber shall require payment of a Reinstatement Fee.


  • If a user has an outstanding fine from a Compliance violation (even if the violation itself has been corrected), their MLS access can be turned off if the fines remain unpaid.
